The accepted candidates will work on one of two NIH funded R01 grants with Dr. Magdalena Wojtczak. Both grants involve research in humans using a combination of psychophysical (behavioral) and noninvasive physiological methods, such as otoacoustic emissions and electroencephalographic (EEG) sound evoked potentials. The main focus of one grant is on cochlear synaptopathy and its consequences for auditory processing and perception. The focus of the other grant is functional role of the efferent system in humans. The responsibilities include subject recruitment, data collection, data analysis, preparation of manuscripts and conference presentations. The positions offer plenty of opportunities for professional growth in areas that are currently of broad interest in hearing research. In addition to working in our lab, the research staff has access to the facilities at our Center for Applied and Translational Sensory Science (http://catss.umn.edu)= . The successful candidates must have (or be close to receiving) a PhD in Psychology, Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, Audiology, or other related disciplines with interest and, preferably, experience in hearing research. Good Matlab command is strongly favored. The appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal for additional two years based on job performance.
