If you know somebody who would be interested, please forward the following ad. Thanks, Susanne *_PhD Position in Behavioral Neurobiology_* The Department of Behavioral Neurobiology of the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology in Seewiesen (Germany) is seeking to fill a fully funded three-year PhD position. Successful applicants will investigate neural mechanisms that underlie vocal communication in birds. Using portable telemetric equipment, which has recently been developed at our department, neural recordings will be conducted in groups of birds while they behave freely in their natural environment. In addition to prior experience with neurobiological research, applicants should have strong quantitative skills and excellent oral and written communications skills in English. An MSc degree or equivalent in neuroscience, zoology/animal sciences, physics, electrical engineering, or another subject relevant for the research project is mandatory. Programming skills in MATLAB or equivalent are considered valuable. The Max Planck Institute for Ornithology offers an attractive research environment with excellent technical facilities. The multidisciplinary research projects of our department integrate behavioural, endocrinological, neuroanatomical, genetical and electrophysiologal techniques. Successful applicants will receive intensive supervision and laboratory training and will have the opportunity to present their work at national and international scientific meetings. The position will be paid on the German TV-L E13 government scale. The Max Planck Society aims to increase the proportion of women researchers and specifically encourages women to apply. Applications from disabled persons will be given priority in the case of equal suitability. To apply for the position, please submit a CV, a short cover letter and contact information for two referees to Dr. Susanne Hoffmann (shoffmann@xxxxxxxx). Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. ```````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` Dr. Susanne Hoffmann Max-Planck-Institute for Ornithology Department of Behavioural Neurobiology Eberhard-Gwinner-Strasse D-82319 Seewiesen Phone: +49 8157 932-256 Fax: +49 8157 932-260 E-mail: shoffmann@xxxxxxxx --- Diese E-Mail wurde von Avast Antivirus-Software auf Viren gepr=C3=BCft. https://www.avast.com/antivirus --------------E5F69FC1D6301ED8D05D95A4 Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-MIME-Autoconverted: from 8bit to quoted-printable by edgeum2.it.mcgill.ca id v3RLKXMF028580

<meta http-equiv=3D"content-type" content=3D"text/html; charset=3Dutf= -8">
<body bgcolor=3D"#FFFFFF" text=3D"#000000"> Dear colleagues,<span lang=3D"EN-US">
<span lang=3D"EN-US"> <div class=3D"moz-forward-container"> <p class=3D"MsoNormal"><span lang=3D"EN-US">[apologies for cross-posting]
<p class=3D"MsoNormal"><span lang=3D"EN-US">our department at the Max-Planck-Institute for Ornithology is currently seeking a PhD student =C2=A0to work on neurophysiological projects in bir= ds.
