Dear colleagues, The Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering is having a special issue on audio fingerprinting and general music recognition. We would like to invite authors to submit a research or review article to this special issue (see below). What Is That Song? Audio Fingerprinting and Beyond Since the advent of the first audio fingerprinting systems fifteen years ago, music recognition has been rapidly evolving. With the ever-growing amount of audio data and the increasing attention from both everyday users and professionals, music recognition systems have become indispensable when consuming digital audio. Nowadays, these technologies are integrated into numerous products of commercial relevance such as mobile apps for identifying songs or business solutions for broadcast monitoring. Music recognition algorithms face several fundamental challenges as they typically require being accurate in their matching performance, robust to various types of noise and distortion, efficient in their lookup, and scalable to large datasets. More recently, researchers and professionals have been showing interest in systems which can additionally identify live or cover songs (which typically exhibit variations in key, tempo, and/or instrumentation) or detect samples or motifs, for potential applications such as rights management or plagiarism detection. The purpose of this special issue is to publish original works as well as review articles addressing the latest advances in music recognition. A particular interest will be given to papers exploring approaches which can handle challenging audio variations in a scalable and efficient way. Potential topics include but are not limited to the following: - Audio fingerprinting - Remix identification - Live song identification - Cover song identification - Plagiarism detection - Sample identification Authors can submit their manuscripts through the Manuscript Tracking System at https://mts.hindawi.com/submit/journals/jece/signal.processing/wtsa/. - Manuscript Due Friday, 21 July 2017 - First Round of Reviews Friday, 13 October 2017 - Publication Date Friday, 8 December 2017 Note that those dates are likely to be postponed by 2 months. Lead Guest Editors: - Zafar Rafii, Gracenote, Emeryville, USA Guest Editors: - Avery Wang, Shazam, San Francisco, USA - Meinard M=C3=BCller, International Audio Laboratories Erlang= en, Erlangen, Germany - Oriol Nieto, Pandora, Oakland, USA - TJ Tsai, Harvey Mudd College, Claremont, USA Please, note that the article processing charges are $1,250, for either a research or review article.
