More details about how to apply can be found from here https://jobs.surrey.ac.uk/vacancy.aspx?ref=3D014417 Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering Location: Guildford Salary: =A331,076 to =A332,958 per annum Fixed Term Post Type: Full Time Advert Placed: Wednesday 22 February 2017 Closing Date: Wednesday 22 March 2017 Reference: 014417 Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research fellow position availa= ble at CVSSP, starting in March 2017, to work in the area of acoustic sourc= e separation and localisation for one year. The project aims to develop rob= ust algorithms for extracting and localising sources of interest from noisy= acoustic measurements, especially from underwater acoustic data, which may= contain not only the target source signal, but also the interfering source= s, background noise, and surface/sea-bed reflections. Methods of interest f= or this work include sparse representations, compressed sensing, and Bayesi= an techniques. The methods to be developed will be evaluated with simulated= data generated using acoustic models, as well as real data recorded by hyd= rophone arrays. This project will contribute to the Work Package 3 of the L= SSCN consortium, funded by EPSRC/Dstl under the MoD UDRC in Signal Processi= ng (see http://udrc.eng.ed.ac.uk/research/lssc-consortium/L_WP3-signal-sepa= ration-and-broadband-distributed-beamforming for more details). Successful applicants will join the CVSSP, a leading research group in sens= ory (visual and auditory) data analysis and interpretation, and will work c= losely with Dr Wenwu Wang. CVSSP is one of the largest UK research groups i= n machine vision and audition with more than 120 researchers, with core exp= ertise in Signal Processing, Image and Video Processing, Pattern Recognitio= n, Computer Vision, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, Computer = Graphics and Human Computer Interaction. CVSSP forms part of the Department= of Electronic Engineering, which received one of the highest ratings in th= e last two research quality assessment, i.e. 2008 RAE, with 70% of its rese= arch classified as either 4* ("world-leading") or 3* ("internationally exce= llent") and in 2014 REF with over 90% of its research classified as either = 4* ("world-leading") or 3* ("internationally excellent"). Applicants should have a PhD degree or equivalent in electrical and electro= nic engineering, computer science, mathematical science, statistics, or rel= ated disciplines. Applicants should be able to demonstrate excellent mathem= atical, analytical and computer programming skills. Advantages will be give= n to the applicants who have experience in underwater acoustic signal proce= ssing, source separation, sparse representations, and machine learning. For informal inquiries about the position, please contact Dr Wenwu Wang (w.= wang@xxxxxxxx). Please feel free to circulate to those who might be interested.
