Dear all, A PhD position is available with the Department of Music Acoustics (IWK)=20 at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and the=20 Intelligent Music Processing and Machine Learning Group at the Austrian=20 Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence (OFAI) in Vienna, Austria. The successful candidate will work on a project=20 entitled "Coordination and Collaborative Creativity in Music Ensembles",=20 funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) and led by Dr. Laura Bishop=20 (OFAI) in collaboration with Assoc. Prof. Werner Goebl (IWK). This=20 project employs motion capture and eye-tracking techniques and=20 human-computer interaction paradigms to identify the cognitive=20 mechanisms underlying musical creativity in groups. The candidate will=20 be responsible for implementing developments to our musical=20 accompaniment system and running experiments to test human-computer=20 musical collaboration. The salary will be=20 28,631.40 Euro/year (before tax) in accordance with FWF regulations. Applicants must have a master's degree in computer science, experimental=20 psychology, systematic musicology, or a related field. Expertise in=20 programming (especially JAVA) and a musical background (performance=20 and/or theory) are essential. Experience with empirical research and=20 statistical analysis is preferred. Applicants must demonstrate=20 professional competence in English; knowledge of German is an asset but=20 not required.
