The goal of the programm= e grant is to realise practical 3D audio for the general public at home. Th= e project is a collaboration with the Universities of Surrey and Southampto= n, and BBC R&D. You will lead the work at Salford University investigating how to assess li= stener experience of spatial audio systems. You will do this by developing,= carrying out and analysing psychoacoustic measurements. You will work clos= ely with BBC R&D and Delta to develop and refine assessment methods relevan= t to new international standards. We expect candidates to have a PhD in acoustics, preferably in spatial audi= o. The successful candidate will be proficient in psychoacoustic experiment= ation. For informal enquiries please contact Professor Trevor Cox, t.j.cox@xxxxxxxx= .ac.uk<mailto:t.j.cox@xxxxxxxx> Further information available here: http://www.jobs.ac.uk/job/AVZ884/resear= ch-fellow-spatial-audio-assessment/ Olly Bones Research Fellow: Human Sound Perception Newton Building Room 119, University of Salford, Salford, M5 4WT, UK +44 161 295 2581 http://www.salford.ac.uk/computing-science-engineering/research/acoustics --_000_84D5CBE57A590446942AD9545DFD155F0572EE60uospexch03_ Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <html xmlns:v=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" xmlns:o=3D"urn:schemas-micr= osoft-com:office:office" xmlns:w=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:word" = xmlns:m=3D"http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/2004/12/omml" xmlns=3D"http:= //www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40"> <head> <meta http-equiv=3D"Content-Type" content=3D"text/html; charset=3Dus-ascii"= > <meta name=3D"Generator" content=3D"Microsoft Word 14 (filtered medium)"> <style><!-- /* Font Definitions */ @xxxxxxxx {font-family:Calibri; panose-1:2 15 5 2 2 2 4 3 2 4;} /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {margin:0cm; margin-bottom:.0001pt; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-fareast-language:EN-US;} a:link, span.MsoHyperlink {mso-style-priority:99; color:blue; text-decoration:underline;} a:visited, span.MsoHyperlinkFollowed {mso-style-priority:99; color:purple; text-decoration:underline;} p {mso-style-priority:99; mso-margin-top-alt:auto; margin-right:0cm; mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto; margin-left:0cm; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman","serif";} span.EmailStyle17 {mso-style-type:personal-compose; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; color:windowtext;} span.apple-converted-space {mso-style-name:apple-converted-space;} .MsoChpDefault {mso-style-type:export-only; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-fareast-language:EN-US;} @xxxxxxxx WordSection1 {size:612.0pt 792.0pt; margin:72.0pt 72.0pt 72.0pt 72.0pt;} div.WordSection1 {page:WordSection1;} --></style><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:shapedefaults v:ext=3D"edit" spidmax=3D"1026" /> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:shapelayout v:ext=3D"edit"> <o:idmap v:ext=3D"edit" data=3D"1" /> </o:shapelayout></xml><![endif]--> </head> <body lang=3D"EN-GB" link=3D"blue" vlink=3D"purple"> <div class=3D"WordSection1"> <p style=3D"mso-margin-top-alt:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:12.0pt;ma= rgin-left:0cm;background:white"> <span style=3D"font-size:9.0pt;font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-ser= if&quot;;color:#333333">Research Fellow: Spatial Audio Assessment (Fixed te= rm 12 months)<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p style=3D"mso-margin-top-alt:0cm;margin-right:0cm;margin-bottom:12.0pt;ma= rgin-left:0cm;background:white"> <span style=3D"font-size:9.0pt;font-family:&quot;Arial&quot;,&quot;sans-ser= if&quot;;color:#333333">The Acoustics Research Centre at the University of = Salford is looking to employ a postdoctoral research fellow to work on an E= PSRC funded programme grant on spatial audio. 3D sound can offer listeners the experience of &quot;being there&quot; at a live ev= ent, such as the Proms, but currently requires highly controlled listening = spaces and loudspeaker setups.
