Work in the Cerebral Systems Lab investigates multisensory = and crossmodal plasticity in auditory cortex of hearing animals as well as = animals with hearing loss (deafness) and hearing restoration (via cochlear = prosthetics). We use an integrative approach combining behavioral psychoph= ysics, single- and multiunit electrophysiological recording, reversible dea= ctivation techniques, and functional MRI. All work is conducted in feline = and monkey models of human hearing and hearing loss. Applicants with an in= terest in auditory neuroscience, cortical plasticity, and multisensory proc= essing are highly encouraged to apply. Quantitative and programming skills in MATLAB or equiv= alent are expected. The laboratory is an energetic, innovative, highly pro= ductive, and highly collaborative research environment with a strong commit= ment to the training and career development of postdoctoral fellows.
