POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH OPPORTUNITY The National Center for Rehabilitative Auditory Research Portland, Oregon NIH funding is available for a postdoctoral scientist to join the laboratories of Dr. Michelle Molis and Dr. Curtis Billings at the National Center for Rehabilitative Auditory Research (NCRAR), located in the VA Portland Health Care System and associated with Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU). The projects work to combine and compare behavioral and electrophysiological measurement methods in normally-hearing and hearing-impaired listeners as a function of age in response to complex, speech and non-speech auditory stimuli. Based on the results of these experiments, computational and prediction models will be developed that can account for differences in speech intelligibility due to hearing status, age, and stimulus characteristics, with the goal of better informing auditory rehabilitation in the future. Qualified applicants will have a Ph.D. in Psychology, Linguistics, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Neuroscience, or related fields. Individuals who have experience with psychophysical methods, electrophysiology, speech processing, digital signal processing, computational modeling, and MATLAB programming are especially encouraged to apply. You will work under the joint mentorship of Drs. Molis and Billings in addition to a diverse team of co-investigators, with the support of research audiologists and assistants. You will have to the opportunity to work in a highly interactive, collaborative, and generative environment, while contributing to pioneering research in the field of speech perception and neural processing. You will cultivate or further refine your knowledge of behavioral and electrophysiological testing, MATLAB programming, signal processing, computational modeling, and manuscript and grant writing. Numerous publication and presentation opportunities are available. The NCRAR is a Dept. of Veterans Affairs Center of Excellence, and the only such center dedicated to the discovery and delivery of cutting-edge solutions to auditory system impairments. The NCRAR consists of a multi-disciplinary team of investigators, biostatisticians, engineers, audiologists and research staff. Founded in 1997, the NCRAR strives to distinguish itself by focusing on the rehabilitation of auditory dysfunction and translation of research findings into practice. Visit the NCRAR website to learn more about us and the work we do: • http://www.ncrar.research.va.gov/http://www.ncrar.research.va.gov/AboutUs/Staff/ Applications should include a cover letter, CV, one or more representative publications, and three recent academic or research references.
