Orga= nized by graduate students=2C the SysMus conference series allows young res= earchers in the field of systematic musicology at the master=92s and doctor= al levels to present their work in the form of papers=2C poster sessions an= d online publications. SysMus13 also provides participants with the opportu= nity to enjoy two keynotes given by internationally renowned specialists=2C= Professors Peter Keller (Univ of Western Sydney) and Frank Pollick (Univ. = of Glasgow) and to meet colleagues from around the world.=20 All research involving meaning=2C description=2C and technological mediatio= n of music can be related to musicology. However=2C the complexity of music= al engagement in socio-cultural contexts engenders different networks of re= search and knowledge=2C with distinct interdisciplinary configurations=2C m= ethods and specializations. Systematic musicology specifically deploys this= methodological diversity so as to approach each musicological question wit= h a specific configuration of methods. In doing so=2C systematic musicology= often bridges methodological foundations of sciences with critical analysi= s from the humanities. It promotes the study of aesthetics=2C semiotics=2C = and cultural studies by incorporating empirical and data-oriented methods i= nto the methodological framework. It relies on paradigms from different dis= ciplines as diverse as the philosophy of aesthetics=2C theoretical sociolog= y=2C semiotics=2C and music criticism=2C combined with strategies derived f= rom empirical psychology=2C acoustics=2C physiology=2C neurosciences=2C cog= nitive sciences=2C computing=2C and others.
