Subject: Job offer: Postdoc in the field of modelling speech perception From: Karin Klink <karin.klink@xxxxxxxx> Date: Fri, 30 Nov 2012 09:06:57 +0100 List-Archive:<http://lists.mcgill.ca/scripts/wa.exe?LIST=AUDITORY>Dear list, please forward these job offers to any interested parties. Sincerely yours, Karin Klink ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The cluster of excellence Hearing4all: Models, Technology and Solutions for Diagnostics, Restoration and Support of Hearing at the Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg (in collaboration with Medizinische Hochschule Hannover and Leibniz Universität Hannover) is seeking to fill as soon as possible the position of *a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Field of Modelling Speech Perception* in the prospective Department of Medical Physics and Acoustics, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. A paramount goal of the cluster of excellence Hearing4all (www.hearing4all.de) is to transform audiology into an “exact” science based on the interplay between experiment and theory as well as between basic, clinical and application-oriented research. In the framework provided by the cluster the successful candidate is expected to contribute to Research Area A ”Improving Diagnostics” which aims at developing a comprehensive auditory patient performance prediction model. The candidate has to contribute to the assessing of audiological data in collaboration with clinical partners and to the modeling of speech perception in listeners with normal and with impaired hearing using “effective” processing models of auditory perception under unaided and aided conditions for different room acoustic environments. Candidates are expected to have an academic university degree (PhD degree and Master or Diploma degree) in rehabilitative audiology, physics, electrical engineering or a related discipline and have shown their ability to perform excellent scientific work, usually demonstrated by the outstanding quality of their Doctorate/PhD research and a good publication record. We are seeking candidates with extensive knowledge in at least one of the following research fields: auditory perception, audiological diagnostics, auditory modeling, acoustics, speech and audio processing. A strong interest in interdisciplinary and application-oriented work, familiarity with scientific tools and programming languages, as well as good English language skills are required. The University of Oldenburg strives to increase the proportion of women in science, so we especially encourage female candidates to apply. Handicapped applicants will be given preference if equally qualified. The position is available from 1 December 2012, for initially 2 years, with prospect for continuation for up to 3 more years. Payment depends on previous experience, E14 German-TV, full time. The position is suitable for part-time work. Please send your application including a cover letter, CV, list of potential referees, links to recent publications, and copies of certificates for academic grades to Prof. Dr. Dr. Birger Kollmeier, Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg, Fakultät V, Exzellenzcluster “Hearing4all”, 26111 Oldenburg, Germany (or per e-mail: Karin.Klink@xxxxxxxx). Application by e-mail is preferred. Prof. Kollmeier (birger.kollmeier@xxxxxxxx) can be contacted for further questions regarding the position. The application deadline is *December 7th 2012*. -- Dr. Karin Klink Medizinische Physik Fakultät V - Institut für Physik Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg 26111 Oldenburg, Germany Email: karin.klink@xxxxxxxx Tel.
