Post doctoral position in auditory cognitive neuroscience and autism (Montreal) Auditory, Brain and Cognitive Development Laboratory (ABCDlab.com) Affiliated institutes: International Laboratory for Brain Music and Sound (brams.org) and Center for Brain Language and Music (crblm.ca) Montreal Children's Hospital Research Institute (McGill University Health Centre) Montreal Neurological Institute (McGill University) A full-time post doctoral position is available in the ‘Auditory, Brain and Cognitive Development Laboratory’ (ABCDlab.com). The lab mission is to better understand the behavioral and brain correlates of human sound processing (such as music and speech) in both typical and atypical development (i.e., autism) in both adults and children. We also conduct studies on learning and brain plasticity across development in individuals with specialized training such as music and dance. To these aims, we conduct behavioral and brain imaging studies using MRI of brain structure (e.g., Voxelbased Morphometry, Cortical thickness, Diffusion Tensor Imaging) and brain function (i.e., fMRI). Candidates must possess a PhD, previous publication record, and strong communication and organization skills. Candidates must have a strong background in one or more of the following: auditory cognitive neuroscience (on music and/ or dance is an asset), brain imaging (structure, functional MRI) and working with children (and in particular with autism or other neurodevelopmental disorder). The post-doctoral fellow will participate in all phases of research, including recruitment, data collection, data analysis (behavioral and brain imaging), and manuscript preparation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, writing ethics protocols, providing instruction and supervision to graduate research assistants on experimental procedures assisting with recruitment and scheduling participants, testing participants (children and adults), and maintaining rigorous scientific and ethical standards. The PI is committed to the promotion of the postdoctoral fellow’s career development by creating an exciting and dynamic research environment, and by encouraging the preparation of research papers. The post-doc position is initially for one year, with possible renewal for a second year. Salary will be in line with University post-doctoral stipend levels.
