Comparison of two time-series data Dear Auditory List, I'm running an experiment testing the effect of various filters and compressors on continuous emotional responses to musical stimuli. Say I've got two time-series for arousal (excitement), of equal length. One series is in response to presentation of the stimulus under one kind of filtering (lowpass at 8k), and the other series is in response to to the same stimulus lowpassed at 3k.Each series comes from different subjects (it's a between-subjects design). What is the best way to tell if the responses are drawn from the same population without collapsing the time series? I have some ideas (namely cross-correlating the two series or collapsing the data, finding the CDF, and then running a two-sample kolmogorov-smirnov test for p < 0.05), but I'd like to hear your input.
