Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg, Animal Physiology and Behavior Group, Prof. Georg Klump, is offering a Postdoctoral position in Auditory Neuroscience * Our lab * Our group is broadly interested in the mechanisms of auditory scene analysis in vertebrates. A hallmark of the lab is a combination of electrophysiological and behavioral studies in birds and rodents. We are part of a vibrant community of auditory and sensory neuroscience groups in Oldenburg, joined in the collaborative research centre “The Active Auditory System” (www.active-hearing.eu), the cluster of excellence “Hearing for All” (www.hearing4all.de), and the “Research Centre Neurosensory Science” (www.neurosensorik.uni-oldenburg.de/en/). * The project * We are looking for a postdoc to study mechanisms of auditory processing in rodents. Main research focus in the project is the segregation of sounds from interfering sources. Topics include the localization of signals in mixtures of sounds, the integration of sequential signals in source segregation, and the role of acoustic cues in the segregation of simultaneous signals. * Your profile * Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant field (e.g., Neuroscience, Physiology, Biomedical Engineering). We are seeking outstanding candidates with extensive knowledge in at least one of the following methods: in-vivo neurophysiology, imaging using voltage sensitive dyes, RNA interference in the CNS. Matlab skills will be helpful. The University of Oldenburg strives to increase the proportion of women in science, so we especially encourage female candidates to apply. Handicapped applicants will be given preference if equally qualified. The position is available from September 1, 2012, for initially 2 years, with prospect for continuation. Payment is between approx. € 22.500 and € 25.500 net annually (depending on previous experience, German TV-L E13). Please send your application including CV, potential referees, links to recent publications, and a copy of your Ph.D. thesis as an email attachment to Prof. Georg Klump (georg.klump@xxxxxxxx) who can also be contacted for further questions. Interviewing of candidates will start on 1 August 2012 and will continue until the position is filled.
