The successful candidate is expected to perform research at the=20 interface between machine learning and cognitive psychology, building=20 computational models of auditory processing of musical stimuli and=20 comparing their predictions with subjective experience and behavioural=20 responses collected in empirical experiments with human listeners. There=20 is potential to extend the project to aspects of timing in language. Candidates should have a first or upper second (2:1) honours degree or=20 equivalent in a relevant area (including Computer Science, Electronic=20 Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics,=20 Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience) and be able to=20 demonstrate strong mathematical, analytical and programming skills. An=20 ability to collect and conduct statistical analysis of behavioural data=20 from human participants and a background in computational linguistics or=20 music information retrieval is also desirable. Experience and strong=20 interest in music would be highly advantageous.
