DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY Vacancy Announcement Number: NEAG11404217 Opening Date: November 08, 2011 Closing Date: November 21, 2011 Position: HEARING CONSERVATION CONSULTANT, GS-0601-13 Salary: $89,033 - $115,742 Annual Place of Work: US Army Public Health Command (USAPHC), Occupational & Environmental Medicine, Army Hearing Program 51, DUTY LOCATION: EDGEWOOD, MD Position Status: This is a Permanent position. -- Full Time Duties: You will support Hearing Readiness, covering audiometric monitoring of individual and unit hearing readiness, use of Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System-Hearing Conservation (DOEHRS-HC) and Medical Protection System (MEDPROS). Support Operational Hearing Services with tactical and conventional hearing protectors, tactical communication and protective systems, noise monitoring and noise abatement referrals, health education training and evaluation of countermeasures effectiveness. Provide consultations to Clinical Hearing Services on diagnostic audiology procedures for hearing loss. Provide advice, guidance and direction regarding policy and objectives related to Army Hearing Program (AHP). Plan and conduct comprehensive AHP site visits and studies. About the Position: Serves in Army Hearing Program, Directorate of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, providing technical and administrative support to Department of the Army (DA), Army National Guard (ARNG) and Reserve personnel covering the four elements of the Army Hearing Program (AHP): Hearing Readiness, Operational Hearing Services; Hearing Conservation and Clinical Hearing Services; developing innovative and unique methods of problem solving and evaluation; and providing advice, guidance, and direction regarding establishment of policy and objectives related to AHP to DA, Office of the Surgeon General, major commands, installations, and other elements within the Department of Defense.
