Dear colleagues, It is my pleasure to bring to your attention a 2nd academic position open at the University of Louisville, this time for a hearing researcher at the Assistant Professor level. The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Louisville invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning July 1, 2012. We are seeking to expand our faculty in the Vision and Hearing Sciences training program. While we are particularly interested in applicants with research interests in the hearing sciences, we also encourage those with research programs in the visual sciences to apply. Those conducting research with an applied or translational component are especially welcome. Successful candidates will have completed their Ph.D. by July 1, 2012 and are expected to contribute to undergraduate and graduate training and to maintain an excellent record of research productivity. The Endowed Chair is a collaboration between the School of Medicine, College of Arts and Sciences, and The Edith and Henry Heuser Hearing Research Institute. It is designated for research focusing on the etiology, prevention, treatment, and/or pathophysiology of deafness/hearing loss and /or its biological, psychological, and social consequences. The Heuser Hearing Institute (HHI), established in 2001, is a comprehensive regional “Center of Excellence” which includes audiological, vestibular, ear-related medical, early education and research components. HHI specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of children and adults who experience hearing and/or balance issues, as well as, having an early childhood education program for children with hearing loss and speech delays. The Heuser Hearing Research Endowed Chair will have access to HHI patients and students (pediatrics to geriatrics) who could be potential research subjects. The academic rank of this tenure track position is open (Assistant Professor to Professor). The candidate must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D and an outstanding academic record. A demonstrated record of collaborative research is essential, as one of the goals is for the individual to build a research presence within the Heuser Hearing Institute that contributes to the Institute’s existing research, clinical and/or educational activities.
