Forwarded to Auditory on behalf of Lynne Marshall: We are seeking a Research Assistant who will assist with data and subject management for the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Hearing Conservation Project, ensuring data integrity and subject confidentiality is always maintained. This individual will be expected to perform some simple statistical and analytical calculations, prepare and track project budgets, as well as execute other project-related tasks as directed. Responsibilities: 1. When necessary and directed to do so, act as point-of contact for project in researcher's absence, standing in on meetings or conference calls with off-site team members, in-house administration, program sponsors, etc. 2. Assist contract liaison to draft statements of work for sub-contractors working on the project. Work with contract liaison to track status and to ensure funding gets to the sub-contractors. 3. Budgetary: Work with Administrative Assistant and fiscal department at NSMRL to create spending plans for all project funds. Once money is received and part of a Work Unit, track spending and provide monthly updates on status of spending to project manager or sponsor. 4. Provide tours/program overviews for visitors. 5. Plan aspects of projects that include: working with contract liaison to set up new contracts for local support when traveling to project sites, coordinate facilities when working off-site (including obtaining any necessary equipment and supplies-having them shipped to the site), set up lodging and coordinate NSMRL sponsored travel for members of the research team that do and do not work on site at NSMRL. 6. Once on-site, set up and coordinate schedules. 7. Work continuously with all members of project teams to complete aspects such as manufacturing of items to be used or tested and ensure completion of project requirements even when NSMRL personnel are no longer on-site. 8. Maintain detailed records of all aspects of the LCS project, ensuring Department of the Navy Records Management policies are strictly followed. 9. Draft summary documents or project status reports as directed by Principal Investigator. 10. Fill out paperwork required for the use of human subjects to comply with Department of the Navy or Department of Defense Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements. 11. Assist with other hearing-conservation research projects as needed. 12. Act as a backup for Administrative Assistant in the following areas: sort and prioritize all mail - notifying researcher of mail that requires immediate attention, consistently monitor and order supplies, coordinate travel, meeting registrations, and project schedules. 13. Additional general duties as required. Qualifications: Candidates should be technically inclined, be highly competent with Microsoft Office software, possess some experience with research, and have demonstrated management skills. Candidates must have strong speaking, writing, and organizational skills. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. The candidate must be able to travel about 10% of the time. Position requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience. Familiarity with the military structure and culture is a plus.
