You will lead an exciting full-time research programme that includes the development, design and implementation of applied studies of auditory development, auditory processing disorder and auditory cognition, and dissemination of research findings, under the overall direction of Professor David Moore. Candidates should have either (i) a PhD in hearing science, psychology or a related subject such as neuroscience, with substantial post-doctoral experience or (ii) an MSc in Audiology, Certificate of Audiological Competence, state registration as a clinical scientist and substantial clinical and research experience, or equivalent. You will need to demonstrate willingness to develop substantial international expertise in current scientific developments relevant to the research area. A record of published research in leading peer-reviewed journals is essential. Experience of managing a team is desirable. There will be opportunities for close collaboration with leading specialists in hearing research including the National Biomedical Research Unit in Hearing and the Brain and Body Centre based in Nottingham, as well as clinical practitioners. Experience of multidisciplinary research is thus also advantageous. The MRC Institute of Hearing Research conducts world-leading research into hearing and hearing disorders and has two regional sections, in Nottingham and Glasgow, housing over 70 scientific, technical and administrative staff. Our wide range of expertise provides a highly stimulating and collaborative working environment. Salary will be in the range £43,221 – £53,432 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience (applicants who don’t meet the full requirements may also be considered for appointment at a lower level). This is a full-time three-year NHS post and runs to March 2012, with the possibility to continue beyond that date. The post is funded by the National Institute of Health Research and will be based at the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust in newly refurbished, custom-built accommodation.
