Digital Book Readers for journal articles (Stuart Rosen )

Perhaps this is not the right forum for this, but does anyone have any experience of trying to use a digital book reader (in particular, the Sony Touch Edition) to read pdf's of journal articles? As far as I can tell from the specs, it would really be best to have pdf's formatted in a very particular way, but it wasn't clear to me whether or not arbitrary pdf's would be workable at all.
