On behalf of the Society for Music Perception and Cognition and the Indiana University Dept of Music and Arts Technology, we invite you to submit an abstract for the Society's Annual Conference, 3-7th August 2009 in Indianapolis, IN. Abstracts will be reviewed by members of the conference's program committee. SMPC is now accepting abstracts for Poster Presentations, 20-minute Podium Presentations and Symposia for the 2009 Annual Conference. The objectives of SMPC are: * to further the scientific and scholarly understanding of music from a broad range of disciplines, including music theory, psychology, psychophysics, linguistics, neurology, neurophysiology, ethnology, ethnomusicology, artificial intelligence, computer technology, physics and engineering; * to facilitate cooperation among scholars and scientists who are engaged in research in these interdisciplinary fields; and * to advance education and public understanding of knowledge gained. Deadline The deadline for abstract submission is: 11:59 PM EST, Sunday, February 1, 2009. Abstract notifications will be made in late March 2009. Abstract Guidelines Professionals in all disciplines are encouraged to submit abstracts for presentation. The abstracts will be reviewed and selected for presentation based on importance and timeliness of topic, scientific rigor, appropriate analytic approach, meaningful findings, and clarity of writing. In addition, authors are encouraged to include information relevant to both educators/clinicians and researchers. This may include how to apply the research findings to students studying music, rehabilitation applications, assessment of clinical disorders. You may submit an abstract to be considered for Poster Presentation, 20-minute Podium (oral) Presentation or you may coordinate a Symposium with several other presenters. Abstracts should be limited to a maximum of 400 words NOT including the required headings: Purpose, Methods, Results, Conclusion, Research and/or Educational/ Clinical Implications, and Acknowledgment of Research Funding (write "None" if not applicable). Headings are required to ensure consistency across all abstract types.
