Subject: Ph.D. Studies in Perception and Cognitive Neuroscience From: Joel Snyder <Joel.Snyder@xxxxxxxx> Date: Mon, 20 Oct 2008 10:40:00 -0700 List-Archive:<http://lists.mcgill.ca/scripts/wa.exe?LIST=AUDITORY>--=====================_340366460==.ALT Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed Dear Auditory List members, Please alert any prospective Ph.D. students you know to the following opportunity for studies in auditory and visual perception: Applicants are invited to apply for graduate Ph.D. assistantships in Experimental Psychology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas to study mechanisms of human perception using psychophysical and cognitive neuroscience techniques. We have facilities supporting adult psychophysics (perceptual judgment, sensory-motor synchronization), adult electrophysiology (high-density EEG recordings), and infant psychophysics (looking time procedures). Opportunities also exist for functional and structural brain measurements (magnetic resonance imaging) through a collaboration with the Nevada Cancer Institute http://www.nevadacancerinstitute.org/science.aspx?id=374. Particular areas of research we are pursuing include perceptual grouping, bistable perception, auditory plasticity, music perception, perceptual and motor timing, and perceptual dysfunction in schizophrenia. For further information about our research, please see http://psychology.unlv.edu/html/snyder.html. The Experimental Psychology Ph.D. Program application deadline is January 15. Please visit the program web site at http://psychology.unlv.edu/html/experimental_program.html for information on applying. If you have any general questions about application procedures, please contact Angeline Marcotte in the Department of Psychology at (702) 895-0176 or via e-mail (psyunlv@xxxxxxxx).
