Appointment title and competitive salary are negotiable, depending on the successful candidates' qualifications. A new five-year project is about to begin in the Auditory Neuroscience Laboratory of the Boston University Hearing Research Center in the Department of Cognitive and Neural Systems. The goals of the project are to combine electrophysiological, psychophysical, and computational approaches to study how listeners segregate, attend to, and process communication signals in complex settings and to understand individual differences in these abilities. Successful candidates will have completed a PhD and demonstrated independence and productivity in one or more of the following areas: EEG, neural mechanisms of attention, auditory scene analysis, psychoacoustics, computational auditory scene analysis. Desired skills include programming knowledge in MATLAB and/ or C++, exceptional written and oral skills, and mathematical / engineering training (especially in signal processing). We seek candidates who have a strong computational background, who can work independently as well as help direct students, and who love engaging in science. As part of the Auditory Neuroscience Laboratory, successful candidates will become part of the vibrant intellectual community that makes up the Boston University Hearing Research Center and will have the opportunity to participate in activities of the inter-university collaboration known as CELEST.
