The successful candidate will have the opportunity to significantly contribute to our ongoing development and gain teaching and demonstrating experience. This position would therefore particularly suit someone who wanted to pursue a career in higher education, although this is not a pre-requisite. =20 The Centre for Music Technology was founded in 2005 and offers a BSc programme in Music Technology, with a new undergraduate programme in Audio Production and Design beginning in September 2008. Further undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes are under active development for September 2009. The successful candidate will play a role in developing th= e Centre=B9s research profile, in conjunction with existing members of staff. =20 The Centre is seeking applications, on a competitive basis, for a research studentship funded by the University of Kent. Candidates will study toward= s a PhD in a topic area that includes but is not limited to: acoustics and psychoacoustics, sound design, multimedia and interactivity/interfaces, synthesis and electro-acoustic composition. =20 Applications are particularly sought from candidates interested in expandin= g upon current departmental research, including the area of conducting remote psychoacoustic listening tests utilising the Internet. =20 The studentship will cover tuition fees at the Home/EU rate plus a maintenance grant. We anticipate an annual grant of =A312,600, adjusted for inflation. The Studentship will be offered for one year in the first instance, renewable for a maximum of three years subject to satisfactory academic performance. =20 Candidates must hold a good Honours degree (First or 2i) and a Master=B9s degree in a relevant subject or equivalent.
