The School is aimed at graduate students = working on their Master or PhD thesis, but it is open to any person = carrying out research in these fields. It will be held in Bielefeld = University, Germany from February 20-22, 2008. It will be a short 3-days training program with both lectures and the = opportunity for practical experiences of biomedical data using prepared = sonification modules in SuperCollider. Topics covered will span from = Data Mining techniques for multivariate time series, to an introduction = to sonification techniques, to biomedical sonification applications. = There will be a practical course on SuperCollider and how to use = SuperCollider for sonification. One session will be open for all = participants to give a short presentation of their own research. The focus for this training school is Sonification and in particular = biomedical applications of auditory displays; this includes basics on = sound synthesis, programming languages and protocols, sonification = techniques, and applications at the interface to biosignals ranging from = scientific applications to artistic applications. One important = application focus is EEG sonification. There are a strictly limited number of places (25 max) and to apply for = a place, students are asked to send a brief CV (list of publication = optional), a description of your research focus, your preferred modules, = and a short statement on your motivation for taking part in the training = school.
