Yeah, the most difficult part of scientific research is the "somebody must have already done this, but under what name?" step. Try to search for terms such as TRAP, 2D-cepstrum, multi-band speech recognition, modulation spectrum, time trajectory modeling. I think these are the closest to what you mean. You will get a lot of hits.
