Please address all questions to Dr. Marjorie Leek 1) Postdoctoral Research Associate - Psychoacoustics <>A research position is available in the National Center for Rehabilitative Auditory Research (NCRAR), located at the Portland Veterans Administration Medical Center, in Portland, Oregon, in support of a research program aimed at characterizing and modeling suprathreshold distortions in auditory processing by persons with impaired hearing. This is a collaborative project with Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and will involve close cooperation between the Walter Reed and the Portland laboratories. The Research Associate will assist in carrying out the studies in the project, to include programming and design of experiments, collection of data, and analyzing and modeling data. In addition, the Research Associate will be encouraged to develop new research projects involving the mechanisms and perceptual effects of hearing impairment, and to interact with other speech and hearing scientists at the NCRAR and at Walter Reed. The NCRAR facility houses 9 sound booths, an anechoic chamber, developmental labs and procedure rooms generously equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation, as well as offices, group rooms, and conference room, all dedicated solely to support NCRAR auditory research and development activities. Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications. A doctoral degree in hearing science, audiology, psychology, or a related field is required, as well as an interest in psychoacoustics and hearing-impairment. 2) Postdoctoral Research Associate - Psychoacoustics A research position is available in the National Center for Rehabilitative Auditory Research, located at the Portland Veterans Administration Medical Center, in Portland, Oregon, to study the functional effects of cochlear impairment. The Research Associate will assist in psychoacoustic (behavioral) studies funded by NIH investigating the perception of complex sounds by subjects with normal hearing and those with hearing loss, with an emphasis on listeners' abilities to analyze spectral and temporal patterns such as those found in speech. In addition, the Research Associate will be encouraged to develop new research projects involving the mechanisms and perceptual effects of hearing impairment, and to interact with other speech and hearing scientists in the NCRAR. The NCRAR facility houses 9 sound booths, an anechoic chamber, developmental labs and procedure rooms generously equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation, as well as offices, group rooms, and conference room, all dedicated solely to support NCRAR auditory research and development activities. The NCRAR's multidisciplinary team approach creates a unique mentoring and training advantage. Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications. A doctoral degree in hearing science, audiology, psychology, or a related field is required, as well as an interest in psychoacoustics and hearing-impairment. Please contact Marjorie R. Leek, Ph.D., NCRAR, Portland VA Medical Center, 3710 SW U.S. Veteran's Hospital Road, Portland, Oregon 97207, telephone: (503) 220-8262, ext. 54692, e-mail: Marjorie.Leek(at)med.va.gov. --------------060207030103030104010205 Content-Type: text/html; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <meta content="text/html;charset=ISO-8859-1" http-equiv="Content-Type"> <title></title> </head> <body bgcolor="#ffffff" text="#000000"> <b>Two POST-DOC positions at the Portland VA (Oregon) are listed below.
