Listmembers- Could you please forward this announcement to any students with research interests in Speech and Hearing who are looking to begin a Ph.D. program next fall? Thank you! --- The Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology (HST) invites applications for admission to the Ph.D. program in Speech and Hearing Bioscience and Technology (SHBT) for the fall semester 2006. Applicants to the HST-SHBT program should have a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Neuroscience, Physics, Biology, Psychology, Linguistics, Communication Disorders, Audiology, Mathematics or Computer Science -- with strong analytical skills. Course work in the first year assumes familiarity with calculus, college level physics, probability/statistics, and biology. Applicants should note the program's emphasis on broad-based interdisciplinary research education, rather than on clinical or narrowly focused technical training. Students are accepted based on their interests, academic background, intellectual capacity, curiosity, motivation, energy, and character. US citizens and permanent residents are eligible for fellowship support from the National Institutes of Health. Applications are due December 15th, 2005. For more information about SHBT program, please visit: http://mit.edu/shbt/ For more information about HST, please visit: http://hst.harvard.edu/ For technical admissions information, such as filling out the on-line application, sending in your test scores and letters of recommendation, and checking on your application, please contact Ms. Cathy Modica (cmodica(at)mit.edu). For more general admissions information, please contact M. Christian Brown, Ph.D. (mcb(at)epl.meei.harvard.edu).
