Hello again! After having sent off my first message, I looked up the difference limen for frequency in "An Introduction to the Psychology of Hearing" by B.C.J. Moore (Academic Press, 5th ed., 2003): "... Overall, the results are consistent with the idea that DLFs [...] are determined by temporal information (phase locking) for frequencies up to about 4-5 kHz." So these DLF's would appear not to be relevant for the present hearing loss debate.
