Subject: CFP: Special Issue on Objective Quality Assessment of Speech and From: "Kim, Doh-Suk (DS)" <dsk(at)LUCENT.COM> Date: Mon, 28 Mar 2005 17:29:21 -0500Dear List, Attached is the call for papers for a special issue of IEEE Tr. Speech & Audio that I'm co-editing. Doh-Suk Kim ______________________________________________________________________ * Call for Papers * The IEEE Transactions on Speech and Audio Processing Special Issue on Objective Quality Assessment of Speech and Audio Objective Quality Assessment of Speech and Audio is an interdisciplinary research area to build computational models that aim to achieve human performance in quality estimation of speech and audio. The estimation of quality is becoming more important especially in telecommunication applications, where Quality of Service is one of the key considerations. The goal of this special issue is to present recent progress and advances in this area as well as remaining challenges. We invite original, previously unpublished research works in all areas relevant to the field. In particular, paper submissions are encouraged on the following topics: * Subjective basis for objective quality assessment * Waveform models - based on waveforms of speech and audio * Parametric models - based on telecommunication or broadcast network parameters * Intrusive models * Non-intrusive (single-ended or output-based) models * Objective diagnosis of quality impairment * Objective and subjective assessment of conversational quality * Issues and applications relevant to real-world problems SUBMISSION PROCEDURE Prospective authors should follow the regular guidelines of the IEEE Transactions on Speech and Audio Processing http://www.ieee.org/organizations/society/sp/infotsa.html for electronic submission via Manuscript Central at http://sps-ieee.manuscriptcentral.com. Authors must select "Special Issue on Objective Quality Assessment of Speech and Audio" as a manuscript type (will appear soon). In addition, the title of the special issue (Special Issue on Objective Quality Assessment of Speech and Audio) should be referenced again in the field marked "Comments to Editor-in-Chief" along with any other pertinent information. You are required to provide a properly executed copyright form to be faxed to the IEEE Signal Processing Society Publications Office (+1 732-562-8905) at the time of submission. Please indicate the manuscript number on the top of the page. SCHEDULE Submission deadline: February 1, 2006 Notification of acceptance: July 31, 2006 Final manuscript due: September 30, 2006 Tentative publication date: January 2007 GUEST EDITORS Dr. Doh-Suk Kim <dsk(at)lucent.com> Lucent Technologies, Whippany, NJ, USA Dr. John Beerends <j.g.beerends(at)telecom.tno.nl> TNO Telecom, Delft, The Netherlands Dr. Oded Ghitza <oded(at)sens.com> Sensimetrics Corporation, Somerville, MA, USA Dr. Peter Kroon <kroon(at)agere.com> Agere Systems, Allentown, PA, USA ______________________________________________________________________
