Subject: Re: The calculation of Speech Intelligibility Index From: Christine Rankovic <rankovic(at)articulation.com> Date: Wed, 22 Dec 2004 11:36:02 -0500Please note that even though the SII is an ANSI standard, there was no validation study of the SII metric. Some assumptions underlying the SII--such as the idea that SII is dependent on speech materials (e.g. nonsense syllables versus sentences)--go against 80 years of articulation index literature, while offering no demonstrated advantage for predicting speech intelligibility.
