Future Ph.D. Students- The Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology (HST) invites applications for admission to the Ph.D. program in Speech and Hearing Bioscience and Technology (SHBT) for the fall semester 2005. Applicants to the HST-SHBT program should have a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Neuroscience, Physics, Biology, Psychology, Linguistics, Communication Disorders, Audiology, Mathematics or Computer Science -- with strong analytical skills. Course work in the first year assumes familiarity with calculus, differential equations, college level physics, probability/statistics, and biology. Applicants should note the program's emphasis on broad-based interdisciplinary research education, rather than on clinical or narrowly focused technical training. Students are accepted based on their interests, academic background, intellectual capacity, curiosity, motivation, energy, and character. US citizens and permanent residents are eligible for fellowship support from the National Institutes of Health. Applications are due December 15th, 2004. For more information about SHBT faculty, research and the admissions process, please visit: http://hst.mit.edu/shbt/ More information about the Division of Health Sciences and Technology can be found here: http://hst.harvard.edu/ If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me and/or the admissions chairman, Prof. M. Christian Brown (mcb(at)epl.meei.harvard.edu). We look forward to your application. -- Tony Miller Eaton-Peabody Laboratory, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary 243 Charles St, Boston, MA 02114 ajmiller(at)mit.edu | (617) 510-3629 | http://tonymiller.info
