University College London Department of Human Communication Science TEMPORARY LECTURESHIP IN HEARING SCIENCES Grade A - B of the University Lecturer scale (current range £ 23,259 - £ 35,813 including London allowance). The post is full time but applications based on a job share would be welcome. The appointment will begin on 1st July 2004, or as soon as possible thereafter. It will end on 31 March 2007 The department of Human Communication Science is one of the largest in the UK specialising in communication disorders and in undergraduate and postgraduate training of speech and language therapists. It has close links with other UCL departments, including Psychology, Phonetics & Linguistics, the postgraduate Institutes of Child Health, Neurology, Cognitive Neuroscience and the recently created UCL Centre for Human Communication. It was awarded full marks in the latest QAA Quality Assurance Agency subject review of teaching and learning. It gained a 5(c) in the 2001 RAE. The vacancy has arisen because a member of the department has won a three-year Department of Health research fellowship. You will coordinate and contribute to teaching in Audiology/hearing sciences on undergraduate and postgraduate courses in speech sciences. You may teach research methods and statistics, or other areas, depending on previous experience. You will have a degree, or equivalent, in Audiology/hearing sciences, or in speech sciences or speech and language therapy with a specialisation in Audiology, or in a cognate discipline. You will have teaching experience, preferably including the teaching of Audiology to undergraduates or postgraduates, clinical experience of Audiology, expertise in clinical audio logical procedures and knowledge of acoustics and speech perception. You will have good communication and interdisciplinary team working skills, be a good organiser, and have good IT skills.
