on page 104, appendix C, of my PhD Thesis on Temporal Coherence:

Dowling's Thesis (1967) of 20 barock compositions with "intended" streaming
(or "fission" as I called back in 1975). Dowling called it "compound melodic
line".

The demonstrations that go with my thesis are available  as interactive
