Cognitive Psychology Position at the level of Assistant or early Associate Professor The University of Toronto at Mississauga, Department of Psychology, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Cognitive Psychology at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor, effective July 1, 2004. Applicants for these positions should have a strong record of research achievement and will be expected to maintain an active, externally funded program of research and to contribute to the education and training of undergraduate and graduate students. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Applications will be accepted in all areas of cognitive psychology but preference will be given to candidates whose research interests are related to language. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with the Human Communication Research Group at the University of Toronto at Mississauga, an interdisciplinary group whose research focus is on human communication throughout the lifespan. This highly successful research group will be moving in August, 2004, to a newly constructed 1100 square meter research facility containing state-of-the art equipment and facilities (in both audio and visual modalities) that will permit researchers to study any aspect of human communication. The Human Communication Research Group is also part of the new Centre for Research on Biological Communication Systems (BCS). The University of Toronto at Mississauga, one of three campuses of the University of Toronto, is located in the City of Mississauga, on the western border of Toronto, approximately 20 km from Toronto's Civic Centre. In light of the extensive expansion (50% growth) that will occur at UTM over the next 10 years, we anticipate the addition of many new positions in Psychology and in the Life Sciences as well as the construction of new buildings and laboratory facilities. Please see our website for further details (http://www.erin.utoronto.ca/~w3psy/). Interested applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, statement of research and teaching interests, and copies of representative publications to Dr. Alison Fleming, Chair, Department of Psychology, University of Toronto at Mississauga, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada L5L 1C6. Three letters of recommendation should also be sent to Dr. Fleming. On November 15 we will begin to consider and interview those candidates with completed files. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority. The University is strongly committed to diversity within its community and especially welcomes applications from visible minority group members, women, Aboriginal persons, persons with disabilities, members of sexual minority groups, and others who may contribute to the further diversification of ideas. -- Michael S.
