Auditory cortex anatomy is characterized using automated measures of cortical curvature and thickness that are used to create flattened and normalized maps of auditory cortex based on gyral structure. Diffusion tensor imaging are used to identify areal connections. Auditory cortical field activations are imaged with fMRI in a variety of selective-attention paradigms that vary attentional demands and stimulus features. Activations are projected onto the locally normalized anatomical maps. Tools used include SPM, FreeSurfer, Presentation and in-house MATLAB and statistical analysis programs. Position duration: 2+ yrs. QUALIFICATIONS. PhD or MD, with a dissertation relating to either cognitive or auditory neuroscience. Candidates should have a strong publication record, with a focus on auditory perception, physiology and/or anatomy. Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems and some programming experience is a plus. Knowledge of neuroanatomy, psychophysics, and neuroimaging methods including ERPs, fMRI, or TMS is required. LOCATION: San Francisco Bay Area.
