Jont: French and Steiberg have used the same data base to derive the AI as did Fletcher and Galt. So the answer to your questions is that SII would acount perfectly for those data if the appropriate importance function is used. But I want to remind you that the SII differs from the AI in the following: 1. importance function for "average speech" is used for general qauntification of a system; importance functions for specific speech tests are available too. 2. System with reverberation and some other distortion are accounted for using the STI methodology. 3. we did try to improve both French and Steinberg and Fletcher and Galt methodologies by building on the last 50 years of scientific work.
