Post-Doctoral Position: Encoding of Dynamic Spectrum in Auditory Cortex Two post-doctoral positions are available in the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology of the School of Medicine of the Univ. of Maryland (in Baltimore) to work in the laboratory of Dr. Didier Depireux. The overall goal of the research is to determine how the shape of the acoustic spectrum is represented in the unit responses of auditory cortex of the awake and alert ferret. We develop system models to characterize response features that are extensions of the classical concepts of response areas and impulse response functions. The project could involve correlated psychophysical studies in ferrets and/or human subjects. The successful candidate will have training experience in either electrophysiology in animals or a strong interest in applying quantitative methods to the field of neuroscience. Please contact Didier Depireux at ddepi001(at)umaryland.edu if interested.
