After a brief discussion some weeks ago, I was surprised to receive my August 1998 IEEE Spectrum magazine yesterday with a cover story titled "The Cool Sound of Tubes". In the feature story inside (which I have not read completely yet) the author covers much of the ground mentioned in the posts here, and there is much more interesting info in the story. As an electrical engineer and a musician, I found many resonating concepts and ideas in this story, I highly recommend it. After reading it, though, there may be a rush to acquire some of that old tube equipment lying around peoples attics or yard sales! Happy Reading, Tom Maglione Email to AUDITORY should now be sent to AUDITORY(at)lists.mcgill.ca LISTSERV commands should be sent to listserv(at)lists.mcgill.ca Information is available on the WEB at http://www.mcgill.ca/cc/listserv
