Dear List members,

Well, if anything, the chain of responses to my query concerning a term
for a particular kind of noise indicates that reference to such a beast
by name only risks what could be significant ambiguity and the concomitant
wrath of attentive reviewers.  I am certainly going to urge my colleague
here to be as specific as possible when he uses such a term, and would do
so myself.  Thank you all for your help on this matter.
