Subject: Research studentship in computational auditory scene analysis From: Guy Brown <G.Brown(at)DCS.SHEF.AC.UK> Date: Thu, 4 Apr 1996 14:01:41 GMTRESEARCH STUDENTSHIP IN COMPUTATIONAL AUDITORY SCENE ANALYSIS A UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) quota award is available at the Department of Computer Science, University of Sheffield, for a research studentship in computational auditory scene analysis. The project will focus on neural network models of auditory perception, particularly the role of neural oscillations in mechanisms of auditory grouping. Candidates should have a strong background in mathematics. Previous experience in neural computing would be an advantage, but is not essential. The award is intended primarily for UK citizens but in some circumstances EU citizens may also be eligible. An EPSRC quota award pays tuition fees and a subsistence allowance of around 5100 pounds sterling per annum for up to 3 years, subject to satisfactory progress. There are additional allowances according to age and marital status. Further information and an application form can be obtained from: Dr. Guy J.
