Dear List,
          for those of you coming to Ottawa this month for the ASA
meeting on a tight budget (or with a spirit of adventure to try
 "alternative" housing), here are some options:

1.   University of Ottawa Residences:  Single room - $31 / night
                  Double room - $39.50 / night + taxes
         Located a 10-minute walk away from the Chateau Laurier.
         Call the Conventions & Residence office at the U. of O,
         at (613) 564-3463, or the Dept. of housing at (613) 564-5400
         for more information and reservations.

2.  Bed and Breakfast Network: Rooms available at rates ranging from
                $35 - $70, depending on single/double, private-shared
                 bath, location, etc.
   Call 1-800-465-1665 for more info and reservations.  If this 800
   number cannot be accessed from your area, call the office in
   Montreal at (514) 521-1665 (Fax: (514) 525-7043).  Tell them you'd
   like to be at a location near the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa.
        I know they have one B&B on O'Connor Street (10 mts away) at a
   rate of $50 or $56 / person.  They may also have other convenient
   locations.  They can also arrange B&B's in Montreal and Quebec city
   for those of you staying on to do some post-conference holidaying.
