Dear List— I would like to bring to your attention a new endowment I have established at the University of Illinois-Urbana to honor my late doctoral advisor, Prof. James W. Beauchamp (1937–2022). The "James W. Beauchamp Award for Interdisciplinary Research" will be given to an ECE doctoral student at Illinois who is "engaged in interdisciplinary creative work that transcends traditional department boundaries including, but not limited
to, cross-disciplinary research in engineering and the fine arts." This is obviously an area close to my professional heart, and I owe much of my career focus to Jim Beauchamp's positive influence upon my work.
