[AUDITORY] PhD positions in Sustainable Sound Futures

We have just launched an EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Sustainable Sound Futures. It will train 70 PhD students over 5 cohorts who have the skills and knowledge to reduce the harms caused by noise and poor acoustics and forge a more positive sounding future. This is a collaboration across the universities of Salford, Sheffield, Southampton and Bristol and over 50 project partners from industry and public sector.

What makes our CDT a unique and exciting opportunity, is the extensive bespoke training that goes far beyond what is normally available for standard PhDs in Acoustics. The training will be co-created between academics and our partners, to ensure students have the skills, knowledge and understanding to build a career creating a more sustainable sound future. They will also have access to the best acoustic facilities in the country.
Students are fully funded for four years (tuition fees, stipend and bench fees). Some of our students will be part-time employees from industry. We welcome applications from home students and have a small number of places for international students. We're now open for applications for 2025.

There are projects at Salford and Southampton that have an emphasis on perception. Perception is one of our four research themes of the CDT.
