Dear all,
As part of
MIT's growing Music Technology group, I am recruiting PhD students to start in Fall 2025. Potential topics could include musical instrument acoustics, measurement, numerical modeling, materials, and design, as well as audio signal processing and synthesis for creative applications.
I'm excited about the interdisciplinary nature of the lab and could see students joining with backgrounds including but not limited to electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, physics, computer science, and of course, music.
Interested students can apply to MIT EECS by December 1, 2024. Please select "Rau, Mark" as a potential research advisor.
There are also Postdoc opportunities and a Master's program starting soon:
- The Tayebati Postdoctoral Fellowship Program was just announced for Postdoc research combining AI with six disciplinary areas, one of which is music. The application deadline is December 1, 2024.
- We will soon announce another more general Postdoc position in Music Technology with a planned start date of Fall 2025. The application deadline will likely be January 15, 2024.
- We are launching a Master's program in Music Technology and Computation that will open to internal applicants for a Fall 2025 start, and external applicants for a Fall 2026 start.
Please spread the word to relevant candidates!
All the best,
Mark Rau
