About the Workshop: Co-located with ICASSP 2025 in Hyderabad, India, the workshop on Speech and Audio Language Models (SALMA) is focused on exploring how (Large) Language Models (LLMs) can be utilized to advance speech and audio processing.

We welcome papers on topics including, but not limited to:
Novel and innovative applications of (L)LMs in speech and audio processing tasks.
Novel and innovative applications of multi-modal and cross-modal speech and audio language models.
Novel architectures and algorithms for training multi-modal (L)LMs with enhanced speech and audio perception and understanding.
Novel architectures and algorithms for training cross-modal speech and audio language models.
Novel benchmarks for holistic and comprehensive evaluation for speech and audio language models.
Novel evaluation techniques for assessing the capabilities of speech and audio language models.
Novel datasets (both real and synthetic) for training speech and audio language models.
Techniques and best practices for building or synthesizing datasets for training speech and audio language models.
Applications of (L)LMs in speech, audio, and music generation.
Any other applications, insights, findings, or case studies related to the use of (L)LMs in speech and audio processing tasks.

Submission Information
We accept submissions that are novel contributions that have yet to be published in a conference with proceedings or a journal. All papers accepted to the workshop will be published in IEEEXplore as part of the official ICASSP Workshop Proceedings.
The paper format is the same as ICASSP (Total 5 pages: 4 pages of main content + 1 page for References), and the review format is single-blind. More details on formatting and the author kit are available here: https://2025.ieeeicassp.org/author-kit-instructions/
Submissions that do not respect the instructions will be desk-rejected.
Non-IEEEXplore Track: We will also accept submissions of works-in-progress or papers that have been previously published in other venues with proceedings or journals. These papers will not be officially published but will be archived on the conference website. Authors will have the opportunity to present their papers at the conference.
