Dear colleagues, Applications are invited for several positions in the Lalor Lab for Computational Cognitive Neurophysiology at the University of Rochester. We anticipate hiring one or two postdoctoral research fellows to work on projects investigating how the human brain encodes complex and natural stimuli (especially speech), and how that encoding is affected by attention, prediction, and
multisensory input. Much of the work will focus on modelling brain responses to such stimuli in healthy, neurotypical adults – including modelling how the human brain processes linguistic meaning. However, there will also be opportunities to carry out research
involving patients with schizophrenia and adolescents/young adults with a diagnosis of autism.
The research fellow(s) will work as part of a multidisciplinary team including PIs, postdoctoral researchers and PhD/MSc students in both Engineering and Neuroscience through the Hajim School of Engineering, the Department of Neuroscience,
and the Del Monte Institute for Neuroscience at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
Candidates should have a PhD in either: a) Psychology, Neuroscience or a related discipline with experience in the use of computational methods to analyze neural signals (or at least a strong motivation to learn), or b) Engineering, Computer
Science or a related discipline with a keen interest in neuroscience. We also anticipate hiring one or two research technicians to support some of the research themes mentioned above. The ideal candidate would have a background in Engineering, Cognitive Neuroscience, Computer Science, or Psychology (e.g.,
a Bachelor’s degree). They will have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Experience managing a lab will be a decided advantage. As will experience with EEG data collection. Experience with MATLAB and Python and an ability to analyze data would
be beneficial. For informal inquiries, please contact Dr. Edmund Lalor at
