We are looking for a motivated research scientist to join our team. The detailed description of this position is listed below.

Job Description

Research Scientist to establish and direct research program in neural encoding and auditory perception in adults and children with cochlear implants projects in the Human Auditory Evoked Potential Laboratory (PI He) within the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at The Ohio State University.

 

Essential Duties:

70%     Conceptualizes, designs, implements, and directs research projects; help with grant proposals of original research to extramural funding agencies; develops, adopts, and implements new laboratory methods; develops hypothesis and experimental approach to hypothesis testing; plans, designs, and conducts complex experiments; extracts, compiles, analyzes, and evaluates data to establish relevance to the problems being evaluated; manages laboratory; writes manuscripts, articles, abstracts, and research reports for publication in peer-reviewed journals; attends and presents research findings at national and international scientific conferences.

 

30%     Develops and conducts educational workshops, lectures, and seminars; collaborates with other researchers in determining research priorities and planning programs of research; trains junior investigators, post-doctoral researchers, graduate students, undergraduate students, and technicians within laboratory; participates in supervision of research staff; supervision of lab/program managers.

 

Minimum Education Required

Doctorate or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in Hearing Science, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering or Computer Science.

 

Required Qualifications
Experience in a progressively responsible research capacity required; demonstrated publication record in peer-reviewed journals required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
