Information on MoH 2024:

The 15th Mechanics of Hearing Workshop will be held at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI USA on June 8-14, 2024.  This workshop brings together around 150 researchers from around the world. Over the years, the workshop has become a recognized platform for well-established and upcoming researchers from various backgrounds (including physiology, physics, engineering, and neuroscience) working on all aspects of the mechanics of hearing, at the molecular, cellular and systems level and using biological, mathematical, and engineering techniques. All are united by the common goal of understanding how typical and atypical ears function, how they are damaged, and how to prevent and repair damage. One exciting aspect of these Workshop series is the intentional intermingling and opportunity for one-on-one discussions between experienced researchers and those earlier in their training and research.  This sort of interaction is much more difficult to attain at a larger meeting.  We will highlight Machine Learning in Hearing Science as a technical emphasis.  As part of our meeting, we will have a Special Keynote lecture and panel discussion in the afternoon or early evening of June 12 (Weds.) by Prof. Mara Mills (New York University) and Prof. Michele Friedner (University of Chicago), tentatively titled “Deaf Audiology”.  We will hold this event at the Lydia Mendelssohn Theater, and it will be open to the University of Michigan community.

Sincerely,
