Permanent Researcher Position in Language Technology - 100 %

 

Join the Department of Computational Linguistics @ University of Zurich as a Lecturer in Language Technology. This permanent position offers full-time employment (100%). The Department of Computational Linguistics @ University of Zurich is run by an international and diverse team of enthusiastic academics with interests in diverse areas of human speech and language processing. We work closely together with researchers from a variety of backgrounds such as Computer Science, Medicine, Psychology, Linguistics and Biology as well as major local, national and international research initiatives and the industry.

 

Your responsibilities

  • Conduct research and teach in the field of language technology (speech signal processing; natural language processing).
  • Focus on automated speech and text processing, with desired involvement in research on visual language and/or the neural foundation of language.
  • Develop innovative approaches to language technology.
  • Utilize language technology to explore and explain human communication.

 

Your profile

  • MSc/MA and PhD in an area related to language technology, in particular speech and text.
  • Strong research background and agenda in the areas of automatic speech and text processing.
  • Ability to apply language technology to analyze speech and language.
  • Strong programming skills and knowledge of state-of-the-art speech and text processing environments.
  • Experience with visual, neural and/or behavioral data in the context of language processing is an asset.
  • Language: Teaching will be in English; knowledge of German is an asset; acquiring German will be expected.
