Senior/Principal Audio Research Engineer position is available at the Audio Engineering Group, Central Media Technology Institute, 2012 Laboratories, Huawei. The position is physically based in the Huawei Hong Kong Research Center.

Through Huawei's complete ecosystem of smartphones, earbuds, headphones, speakers, car audio system, and TV, we aim at providing the best immersive audio experience for people to enjoy music, at anytime and anywhere. This is achieved by our adaptive and intelligent audio technology such as AIGC, spatial audio, TTS for speech and singing, audio upmixing, sound source separation, MIR, ASR, audio fingerprint, super resolution, noise cancellation, etc. We are looking for talented engineers to achieve these together, with hundreds of audio research engineers in our audio research centers all over the world including Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Munich, Tampere, Singapore, etc.
Job description
1. Research and development in one (or more) of the projects below:
- AI Music generation. To generation music with lyrics, multi-modal input, or singing voice.
- Spatial audio up-mixing. Automatically up-mix raw audio tracks or stereo music to immersive spatial audio.
- Sound Source Separation. For client devices with limited computation resources.
- Music Information Retrieval. Including music transcription, segmentation, precise onset detection, and music effect quantification.
2. Lead a team of engineers and interns in the Huawei Hong Kong Research Center.
3. Collaborate with various Huawei research centers and university labs all over the world.
Qualification
1. PhD in computer science, audio engineering or related field; or MPhil with Strong publication record demonstrating innovative research.
2. Experienced in AI and deep learning. Familiar with at least one machine learning framework (e.g. pytorch/tensorflow).
3. Proficient in python or C++, deep understanding in common algorithms and data structures.
Optional Qualification
4. Experienced in pop music production and music performance. Familiar with at least one DAW.
5. Fluent in both English and Chinese
